By looking at the picture above, you can easily understand that there are basically 4 types of Machu Picchu tickets. You have tickets that allow you to only visit the main attraction, which is the Citadel of Machu Picchu. And you have tickets that allow you to climb one of its surrounding mountains such as Huayna Piccchu (Waynapicchu), Machu Picchu mountain, and Huchuy Picchu.

The Machu Picchu Citadel ticket

The Machu Picchu citadel ticket allows you to enter Machu Picchu but it does not allow you to hike any of the surrounding mountains such as Huayna Piccchu (Waynapicchu), Machu Picchu mountain, and Huchuy Picchu.

The Huayna Picchu ticket

The Huayna Piccchu ticket (Waynapicchu) allows you to enter Machu Picchu so you can reach the start of the Huayna Picchu trail which is located inside the Machu Picchu sanctuary at about a 15-minute walk from the entrance. You then check in at the start of the trail and begin your hike to the summit of Huayna Picchu. After or before your hike, you can partially visit Machu Picchu. The Huayna Picchu ticket only allows you to visit circuit 4 of 4 which is in the lower section of the Machu Picchu citadel. You can download a map of Machu Picchu's 4 circuits here. The Huayna Picchu ticket does not allow you to hike the other surrounding mountains such as Machu Picchu mountain or Huchuy Picchu.

The Huchuy Picchu ticket

The Huchuy Piccchu ticket allows you to enter Machu Picchu so you can reach the start of the Huchuy Picchu trail which is located inside the Machu Picchu sanctuary at about a 15-minute walk from the entrance. You then check in at the start of the trail and begin your hike to the summit of Huayna Picchu. After or before your hike, you can partially visit Machu Picchu.
